For a period of my life when ever looked out the window of a plane I imagined Jesus bursting through the clouds to herald the second coming. I was reminded that Paul writes we shall meet him in the air.
lyrics
From the aeroplane I imagined Jesus return
From this position I wondered what I’d learn
I imagined a bullet of clear shining light
Burst through the clouds whist I was in flight
Now the apostle Paul told me that I'd meet him in the air
But what does it mean if I'm already up there.
Would I see also ascending to meet me in the clouds
All saints attending with Christ as a crowd?
Shaking off the dirt that held them in their graves,
In the twinkling of an eye, I know, we all shall be changed.
Knowing that the dead in Christ they must see him first.
With chaos all around me I must wait my turn.
Maybe I should turn and address the people on the plane
Let the captain know, it’s OK, Christ has come again.
And perhaps I’ll be pulled from the plane with no warning and with no life vest
To a new age that is dawning, and by his grace eternal rest.
For little did we know that whilst we were in flight
Armies from the North had taken Israel in the night.
And like Abraham before him he'll rescue his straying kin
They’ll bow at his feet before him and realise that the one that they pierced was him.
